Is there a way of working out what your blood pressure should be? If you are over 70 and suffer painful arthritis, your blood pressure wouldn't be the same as a young person who isn't in pain would it?

danny ok, will send for that one. Thank you.
Barsel, I have just checked and that model is the one I have.I wish I had checked E-bay, I could have saved £13.DOH
eat 20 almonds a day, they lower BP and naturally thin the blood, I buy them in bulk from amazon.
Question Author
Thanks for the tip TTT.
Question Author
danny I hate it when that happens.:-(
I had a DVT about 5 years ago and they wanted to drug me right up with blood thinners etc but I hate taking tablets so I researched my own condition and discovered the foods that help with blood thinning and thus BP. All my numbers have improved immeasurably since and the quack is happy. Had my last blood test only last week and it turns out that even my liver is getting better! So my diet at the moment includes a lot of natural anti inflammatories and natural blood thinning foods. This is the list of natural blood thinners in foods:

Thanks for the link TTT. I always used to buy almonds, brazil nuts and walnuts. Will put them on my next shopping list.
Just one point....the instructions with my Omron machine specifically say that you should wait several minutes between each reading, when you are doing (say) three.
Question Author
Thanks for that gingejbee I'll keep that in mind.
The nurses from my GP's surgery wait three minutes between checks.
It's a well-known fact that BP goes sky-high when taken in the GP's surgery - "white coat syndrome" even if s/he isn't wearing a white coat!
Diddley that happens to some people, not to everybody.
I think Barsel must be missing your posts Woofgang.
LB so long as she gets what she needs its fine.
Question Author
Sorry woofgang, I think I answered your post but addressed it to Togo.was there something else I missed?
Question Author
I think it must be because I was talking to Togo earlier , sorry.
No Basel, there is no method of working out what one's BP SHOULD be. Each person is an individual with their own personal problems, past and family history and underlying medical problems,
That is why I HATE websites and links on the health section of AB. I never open a link and will never if at all possible, give one.Medicine is all about people NOT cyberspace.
Getting to your OP and the medical details that you have given and those that I have gleaned over the year's on AB,your cardiovascular seems to me to be in moderately good nick, although your BP is a touch above normal.
My advice would be to soldier on taking your BP weekly as at the moment it is not a big deal.
However,if your GP,feels that a low dose of BP lowering drugs may be appropriate then I would also consider that to be quite appropriate and acceptable.
Question Author
sqad, I knew you would say it's no big deal at some point. You may think this is no big deal, but my name is Barsel. I am already on a BP drug but my GP wants to put me on another one as well. I'm not happy about taking any kind of drug unless it's really necessary, but it's difficult for me to prove to her that what she takes and what I take in the results, are very different.
lol......well Barsel,I have given you my opinion.
Question Author
Thank you sqad.
