It's a hard one to answer. I mean.. surely we want everything back to normal right now? But there is a big health risk out there.. so until we know more about it, it's hard to say.
I don't know when but I'm sure of one thing, it'll be a joyless experience at home or abroad for a long time to come if going to the shops is anything to go by.
Until people can be sure that either: they won't catch covid or that covid won't kill them, I think life will restricted.
There’s no way ButLins or similar will be able to open in July. They’re just hoping to stall people wanting their money back.
The nearest we get to tourists in Milton Keynes. are the people who come to the shopping centre.

It could be a while before that is fully functional again.
there's always scope for disaster tourism, as in Pompeii or Chernobyl. So sealed tourist buses could tour the Cotswolds or the empty streets of Northampton taking photos of the wastelands They could even be allowed to get out and walk around themselves but with armed guards to protect them from zombies.
Its the same economy v health challenge that we have across all sectors. Retail, tourism, sport etc.

In our local seaside town the unemployment levels have risen drastically recently and the lack of summer season this year will only make the local economy. We cant open the attractions, the holiday parks, hotels or cafes until its safe to do so, but a calculated risk will be taken probably graduated. Economy v health.
Morning, Johnny.....from March until October our village is what it is because of tourism. We can see up to seventy coaches a day stopping and spilling out hundreds of tourists from all over the world to spend lots of money in their twenty or thirty minute visit.
We are going to be hit badly so when do we want them back? When it's safe is the obvious answer but who will know for sure that it's safe to travel and holiday abroad?
Dave and I gave up flying many years ago but had mulled over driving to France or Portugal perhaps next year. We won't be even considering that now. Maybe other Irish folk will feel the same and we'll see more Irish holidaying at home and tourism will slowly trickle back to some sort of normal....especially as two friends and I spent the winter making touristy stuff to sell for charity at our farmer's market. There's only so much Irish themed stuff I can palm off on the family for Christmas!.... ;-)

I am hoping to holiday in the far green isle next year hopefully a touring coach holiday
I am hoping to still visit Scotland this August again on a coach holiday I am aware that these coach holidays are mainly catering for the older people and I'm hoping we will all be treated as wanted guests rather than barer's of the lurgy
Nothing to see in Northampton unless you like the history of shoes.
The challenge for the coach companies will be the same - economy v health. How to make a coach tour viable and achieve social distancing ? Not possible. Wont happen for a good while yet. Shearings is in administration. Grand UK is closed for now and has furloughed their teams, just like the airlines, it will hit these businesses hard.

they have a great balloon festival
Is it for nudists, Johnny? Marvellous what they come up with today.
We get lots of younger people on coach tours of Ireland too, Johnny.

If your coach brings you around the Ring of Kerry you'll be lucky enough to stop in our village and even luckier in being able to purchase key rings, jewellery travel pouches, drinks coasters, wine glass bug protectors and early Christmas gifts...all lightweight and unbreakable... ;-)
Northampton have 3 women to every man. Even I could get a girlfriend there, possibly.
Can you choose which three, or do you just get issued three at random?

I hope I will be able to buy a novelty leprechaun shaped thermometer or bottle opener ; )
Oh Lord! Now I'm wondering which part of the leprechaun will be opening the bottle..... :-)

of course I will need
two to be sure to be sure
Well, I want to be a tourist. In England. Lots of people do, but the locals don't want us, if last week-end is anything to go by. 'Don't come to our area' was heard in a few places. You'll wonder where we are soon enough, when we go somewhere else. Then you'll be moaning that tourism is down and people are suffering financially. I will be avoiding anywhere that said they don't want people to visit, when this is all over.
