I am going through the change and I sometimes don't get a period for 3 months, then I get one which lasts for about a fortnight. Then I'm waiting, waiting, waiting for the next one again. I know that no two women are the same but if you have had the same as me how did you cope with it and how long did it go on for?

Go and see your doctor...there are lots of things he can do to help you through this difficult time. I was like this and and suffered for a couple of years and had to have D and C's and ended up having a hysterectomy.I would be on and off like this and when it did turn up it was horrendous.Mind you things have progressed since I went through it and he may recommend HRT which may sort the problem out for you.Don't despair..it's all very unpleasant for some women ...and yet others seem to sail through it. Do talk to your doctor.. and good luck.
I had a month long heavy bleed that made me say enough is enough. I went and saw the practice nurse who gave me a depo provera injection. This is a contraceptive that suppresses periods. I stayed on them for 2 years and then had a trial break, went into normal (ha) menopause, all the other symptoms but no more long bleeds.
Hi sorry to say thats what happens's going through the menopause. I had this when I started mine, I must have pushed the people who make (Always) through the roof for that year. I went to the doctors, he gave me some tablets to take, which either stopped it or slowed it down. I went through this period (forgive the pun) for about a year, then all of a sudden it all stopped and they ceased completley. Its been 18 months now and while its lovely its all the other effects that are not so nice, but hopefully you just have to cope. Anyway as I said visit the doctors I am sure he will be able to give you something if you have a month of everlasting period. Good luck
