I had a raised mole with an odd red ring around it (If you know you know)

I went docs he gave me a cream with a steroid and antibiotic in it I think the cream began with F (I've not got it on me).

The doc didn't say when to stop using this cream.. Any ideas when i should?

The red ring has dramatically decreased in inflammation and is almost on the way out but not yet 100% there. I'd not want to stop using the cream and it some how come back? I know you need to finish a course of antibiotics but what about cream?

It says throw out after 3 months of opening.

Use it until it runs out or chuck out after 3 months, whichever comes first.
Fucadine? How long have you been using it? I would continue for another 2 to 3 days and ask practice nurse to confirm
Didn't it have instructions for useage on the box when you picked it up?
Question Author
It might be Fucidin it does have the Leo lion on it and began with an F but i thought my pack was green.

Read instructions? MMM i probably should have.
I will check out an old copy of the wife's MIMs. That usually gives doseage,contra-indications, price etc.

Thank you Retro
NHS website says 1 to 2 weeks....is there no info on the prescription label which should have been stuck on the box or tube?
https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/fusidic-acid/
Question Author
I've been told to use it twice a day but not for how long. I was told to apply a very thin layer for external use only.

Cheers doug. I'll try check what the actual name is to guarantee
Question Author
Prescription label said.. Use twice a day, apply a thin layer for external use only discard any remaining cream after 3 months of opening.

It also had my name on it :)
According to the British National Formulary, Page 658 0f the 2009 edition. Fucidin cream (Leo) should be applied 3-4 times daily. Does not say the duration so,as Baldric advises, take it til it runs out.

I shall get name of cream and come back to ya'll
Use it until your symptoms have disappeared...i.e unti the itching and or pain has gone.
It is unlikely that the "mole " will ever disappear with that cream as it is an anti-fungal.
If in the next 2 weeks you are not symptom free, then go back to your GP.
Question Author
Sqad it never itched or hurt. It just looked very different physically. What i'm hoping disappears is the red mark around it. It's a lot less prominent now but still there.
O.K then continue for another 2 weeks to see if the inflammation disappears. If it doesn't then the diagnosis is open to dispute in which case see your GP again.
Question Author
OK thanks sqad.

Will still try to update with correct cream name.
Question Author
It’s “fucibet”
Question Author
Bump.
Well, that isn't an anti-fungal cream and IF fungus is the correct diagnosis then you have having the correct treatment.
I don't think your GP knows the nature of your skin lesion so I would suggest that you give it another 2 weeks .
Question Author
Sqad i'm unsure why you think it's fungal.

It seemed the mole was bruised and raised but it has settled now, redness gone. I thought the cream was to help tread the bruising
