I had the teeniest of hair dye patch tests yesterday, as I’ve reacted badly to a different one a couple of years ago. So she put a dab literally just half a Cm across behind my ear yesterday morning. I took antihistamine straight away and since. Last night it started to itch. Today I have a swollen raised lump about 6 Cm long, which has scabbed all over and is weeping, and really hurts. It’s too late to get anywhere now so until I can get to doctor tomorrow do I put some sort of cream on it, or do I leave it dry?? (Not that is it dry...)

Can you get to a chemists (I imagine you live somewhere a bit less Middle Ages than where I live)?

Well I’ve got antihistamine tabs and cream here so don’t think they’d give me much else. But all our local ones are shut now anyway. Just don’t know whether to smother it with the cream or try and dry it out
I think a good general rule, if it is weeping, is to leave it exposed, and let your body expel the toxins naturally, which is what I guess the weeping is doing.

Then have a chat with your GP about it, and let him / her have a look.

Thanks Andy, I will do that. Am just thanking everything possible that I did a patch test and didn’t just let her put it on my head!!

That’s how I reacted to the first one. I was worse in fact!! So I’ve left it 2 years and tried a much milder one - nope!!
