Just had an appointment at my GP surgery to discuss my meds.
Saw a young Indian doctor, was discussing my Tramadol script. Told me that he wants to reduce my Tramadol and advised me to take up Yoga and meditation and said that pain is all in the mind and could be overcome with mindfulness.
Cant see myself being in the Lotus position anytime soon!

As long as it is not a downward dog position!!!! Lol.

Oh ye of little faith ;o)
Go on. You might get in touch with the Gods.
Was on tramadol following a hip replacement. Was told that it was best to reduce dosage and come off completely as soon as possible as it was addictive.
Yogi Nailit - now that sounds cool!
Preying mantis position seems quite impossible to me but I could be looking at pics from a different Indian scripted book.

(Yep it has words as well ;-)
Plank.

Despite the Yoga and meditation advise, it was actually cool to see a doctor that could see the harm that long term usage of pharmaceuticals could do (ive been on them for several years and GPs just keep prescribing them without offering any alternative for pain relief)
I didn't even go to see him about my Tramadol but about other meds.
re pain in the mind, have you seen this?

They had a similar thing on telly the other night, in a report on synesthesia. The mind can do remarkable things.

Ah yes, of course, the one written about your good self :-

'The God Of Small Things' !!

:-((
Oopps , I meant the yoga position, he sounds a wise Doctor - I was mightily glad to taper off Tramadol.

Good luck Nailit x
Tramadol reduction? Well maybe but pain all in the mind? Hell no!
You're quite safe Nailit, I think Mamya is referring to my post or found a new position..

LOL, so easy to misinterpret 'text'...
jno - I watched the video and the bit that really fascinated me was that the Professor could use both hands at the same time. He was brushing the rubber hand and the person's hand synchronisation (not the right word but nearly right).

Agreed. I *AM* addicted to them now but no doctor has ever questioned repeating my script or offered an alternative for my chronic back pain until this evening.
I was in his surgery for well past my allotted 10 mins (nearly half an hour I think) so cant complain about that.
BUT I do wonder what he would have said to my cancer ridden mum re pain??
ag, sounds an interesting read, did you read it, it may help you.
No Doctor would consider holding back on any pain relief for cancer patients, indeed many are addicts, so what?

My Husband certainly was.
