This is due to excess fluid (water) collecting in the lowest part of the body (ankles) the Kidney problem is related . Kidney's not filtering out the excess water efficiently from your blood stream ! Drinking alcohol makes it worse! Stick to water , bottled water if you do not trust tap water (or just boil tap water and let it cool down to drink!)
Not enough information....not nearly enough.
What kidney trouble did you have in the past?
What medications are you taking, if any?
Have you had or have any heart problems?
How old are you?

Well that is that then.........sorted ;-)
My feet/ankles always swell when I'm on holiday. I take water tablets.

Jeez...PP...this is Q&A site and pumpjack might have to wait weeks to see a doctor.
Elevate your feet when sitting & try to mobilize as much as you can!

thx tinkerbell, seen a speciailist yesterday and was warned the same, i will never take ibruphen again ,

though what alternitive if my feet are swollen very very badly
What did the specialist advise you to do?
Are you taking diuretics? You can buy them over the counter
pumpjack:

You have yet to answer my queries of 08.50 March 5th and i am reluctant to continue contributing to your thread.

I wonder why you took Ibuprofen, as it is not a diuretic (doesn't get rid of swollen ankles).
Frusemide is a better diuretic but your consultant would have told you that.

i take ibruphen for severe gout, my own doc should have advised me against this but he did not, he gave me colchicine but specialist told me yesterday that ibruphen is a big nono, colchicine not much better but my drinking is causing gout every week or more, very severe, ive had kidney problems at least 4 yr, im 50 yr old
Thanks pumpjack.....you have to balance the advantages of using Ibuprofen against the disadvantages, particularly as gout is so painful
I do not know what type of kidney disease you have or what stage it is in, but had I been in your situation regarding gout, i would not hesitate to take Ibuprofen or colchicine.
However.....do what the consultant has advised....is he a Nephrologist, Cardiologist or what speciality?
For heavens' sake, pumpjack, when are you going to give up the alcohol? It has caused you lots of problems and certainly hasn't helped with your ongoing weight battle. It doesn't help your kidneys either.
