......t'other day. I knew what it was about cos I'm always late paying the bill. Anyway, someone called who said his name was Afzal. He asked if my name was Mr. Clarion and was I the bill payer. I said yes to both questions. He then asked for confirmation of that by asking for my password. I said I'm not giving you my password as you could be anybody. He said I'll give you my phone number here, and you can ring me back. What?! I said no chance. That's one thing people are advised not to do. I said he should be answering MY security questions, not me divulging my security information to anyone who calls and says they're from British Gas, at which point he hung up.
Anyway, I'm always wary of receiving cold calls from anyone. If they have my security information, and they are who they say they are, they should be able to answer MY security questions, shouldn't they? What's wrong with that?
Thanks folks. Ummm, don't just take their word for it. Looking after your information is very important. Sorry if I sound patronizing, but people can't be too careful, so don't you be. I care, don'tchano?
Thanks go to the saintly, precious snowflake call jackthehat, yer know, the one that has the username of a gangland thug. Hows that for a contradiction?
10ClarionSt, Nothing is wrong with it. The next thing would likely have been him asking for your bank details in order to take the amount owing. I wouldn’t have indulged him either. You were wise to be cautious. (Ever thought of setting up a Direct Debit to pay your bills?).
Ummm, I would say you are a good target for a phone scam. You seem to believe that the person on the phone is who they say they are. I just want them to prove that. What's wrong with that? They want me to do that don't they? Why shouldn't I want the same thing?
