Ok so last wed I had the most stupid accident. It was very very early morning and I was hot. So I went into the bathroom to put my hair in a ponytail. I flung my head forward to brush the underneath of my hair and didn’t realise how close I wa to the sink, and basically smashed my forehand onto it, almost knocking myself out. Sort of came to on floor with blood running down my face. To cut long story short ended up with gash , being cleaned and then glued at medical centre. Told I had huge haematoma, which I could see , and which would disperse. But today it’s hurting more than ever. Literally throbbing like mad. I know it’s obviously badly bruised but didn’t expect it to feel worse. Would it help to put ice on it ? or anything? Or will that make it worse?

I fell and bumped my cheek a couple of months ago and my GP diagnosed a haematoma. I was told to ice it for 20 mins and then stop for and hour. I also took pain killers. It took about 6 weeks for the bump to go down and its still a little sore. Hope you feel better soon.
It might be some of the haematoma breaking up rather than fresh blood, if so it will relieve the pressure a bit
