find a sypathetic doctor who will prescribe an anti-biotic such as oxytetracyceline (sp?). I had spots, but not really acne, as a teenager and found that these helped

I would have thought that sudocream would make the situation worse. If you've been told that you don't have acne then it is possible that you don't need any of the harsh products a doctor would prescribe (they tend to cause extreme dry skin which can look just as bad as the spots!) I would advise you to try the Clinique 3 step program suited to your skin type. It's alot to pay out but the soap, clarifying lotion and moisturiser will last for well over a year. Go to Boots and speak to one of the Clinique consultants.

With your index finger rub behind your ear at lobe level, there is natural oil there which if rubbed on the spots will help clear them up.
I must confess I heard this somewhere but have never actually tested it. It's free!

Zinc tablets will help, and try soap from a health shop.
Adjust your diet. Cut out chocolate, sugar, and all fatty foods. Eat as miuch fruit and veg as you can. Drink six glasses of water a day to keep your system flushed. Wash your face with non-perfumed non-fat soap and pat it dry with a clean towel. Keep your hands scrupulously clean, and away from your face. If you have long hair, tie it back during the day. All these things will help.

I find Hammamelis water (commonly known as witch hazel) excellent for drying up spots.
You can but it from any chemist shop or pharmacy. I recommend you buy an unbranded variey as it will cost approx 1 compared to similar branded ones.

Good luck x

Ive had bad acne all through my teenage years. At the moment im on the pill and a topical cream so now ive just got normal spots. I would advice staying away from pills if u can coz they have real nastly side affects. Ive tried everything and also researched it so like to consider myself a bit of en expert on this (ooh look at me!) Drink water but you dont have to change your diet- thats an old wives tale and doesnt cause spots. If you get whiteheads- dont squeeze them- dab a bit of tea tree oil on them and it drys them out a treat. Squeeze blackheads. Try not to use makeup whenever you can (if your a girl that is) and when you do use clinique as that doesnt clog pores. Try not to overtreat you skin with all the scrubs and stuff you can buy. Also dont wash excesively. Both these things will actually leave the fresh skin exposed to present spots and bacteria is likely to spread. Do try and keep your hair back as hair grease is real bad for spots. Apart from all that there is not much you can do- just remember at least you dont have acne and most people prob dont even notice your spots.

When i had acne my doctor prescribed this topical liquid  called Zynert which cleared them up super- duper quickly, it did dry the skin a teeny bit but not very badly.

So shud i be using the sudocream or not??

Sudocream is used as barrier protection, so will keep your skin moist and oily, so not ideal for using on spots.

You can get a topical steroid over the counter at chemists called Quinoderm, which contains Benzyl Peroxide that is used for fighting the bacteria that causes spots. As mentioned in another answer, seeing your GP may also help, as there are many medications on offer.

use toothpaste on it to dry it up with.it is amazing

For a really great quick fix remedy try the following ......

Apply a small amount of toothpaste on the spot (s) ..make sure you use white paste (not the gel type tooth paste)...leave over night ...and I promise you the next morning you'll find that the spot has dried up a great deal!

Also the paste takes a lot of the redness away.

If you do the above over a few nights you should see an improvement.

Try it ! it really works !

let us know how you get on ....good luck !

Hey....yeah i actually agree with the toothpaste thing, i mean i heard about this and at first i was like EH? toothpaste lol but honestly it really does work....dries spots out really good.

Happy pasting :D

i have heard that nail varnish remover gets rid of spots reali quick so if i were u try it!
i have well had/ve acne now sortof but use simple face wash if you have pale skin and it clears it up no doubt

Right imn on the Zynert stuff, how long before i notice an improvement??
I tried zynerit which worked okay but as a roll-on preperation made my skin oliy anyway.

The best thing I found which dries up spots OVER NIGHT is Mario Badescu's Drying Lotion. It costs about 15-20 a bottle but it has worked for me EVERY TIME and I'm not kidding. Look for it on Ebay or on the net elsewhere.
One mask you can create is with the use of oatmeal, yogurt and tomato juice. Mix the three altogether to create a thin paste. Apply this paste all over your skin and allow it to stay for 20 minutes before rinsing the mask off with cold water. You can use this mask every day or you can use alternately with other skin lightening masks until you achieved your desired skin tone.
