I can give you my bank account details
I'll look after it !!....isa....why pay tax.take advice..go to that Manny on telly..he's good whatsisname .Martin...??
Suggest you have a word with an Independent Financial Adviser. Not sure AB is the correct place to look for advice with such a large sum. Mind you, as plebet has said, there's always my bank account.
Have you taken out this tax years Isa allowance. You could split it and do so much in Premium Bonds, possibly also a fixed rate 1 yr or 2 yr Bond, but remember you can't get at the cash unless emergency and then you would lose so much of the interest. I tend not to tie up for more than 1 year. Just my thoughts.
It's impossible to get a real return on it, AniaBomb. If National Savings are still doing their tax-free bonds you can stick £15k in there and get "inflation" (i.e.CPI) + 0.5%. The best ISAs offer 3+% if you hold for a year. Cash ISA allowance is £5,760 a year.

I feel a bit better but is there not just one place where I can put it. I'd buy a property but the prices are impossibly high where I live.

As interest rates are not that hot at the moment, and assuming you dont already have over £5000 in premium bonds, I would put it all there. Then any wins you get will be tax free.
If its cash and you pay into a bank or savings account, the tax office will Investigate

I got life! Lol
I agree with grasscarp.

Interest rates are rubbish.

Bang the whole lot in Premium Bonds.

You can only have 30K in premium bonds in one name. Am I right in thinking that it's 250K in question or just 25K?
You can give it to desktop so we don't have to listen to anymore fed up threads!
LOL lcg - if only....
You don't have to buy property near where you live. If you can bear the constant repairs and redecorations, student lets are quite profitable.
