There seem to be sales and reductions all year now - I don't think I'd make a special effort in the next few days!
Can be, but do your homework first. It's also an opportunity for offloading old stock under so called bargain prices. Very often new updated models are held back whilst they get rid off the old stock, which would largely become unsellable.

I tend to wait until about the end of January, especially on the 'white' goods front.

That's kind of what I thought. But the daughter was saying-"get everything you need NOW mum-prices are cheapest in the sales". I'm assuming there is so much competition to get our money that reductions are always there for bigger items.

@ SlackAlice...I agree to what you say about them offloading old stock....not that that bothers me. I'm not looking for 'bells and whistles', but energy ratings and value are a priority.
@ pastafreak
Quite agree with you about the bells and whistles!! However, some people would be upset about buying what is in effect 'obsolete' stock. ☺
Be careful of shops like Currys, PC World etc.

They say "sale £100 off" etc but to be honest you could probably have bought the product at the same price (or even cheaper) before Xmas.

Legally a product can be said to be in a sale when it was sold at one store at the higher price for about 2 weeks.

So all they have to do is sell it at say Aberdeen at the higher price for 2 weeks and then after that in all their stores they can have huge SALE signs everywhere.

Many of these sales are a con.

@VHG....I won't go to Currys et al on principle. Sales tactics this time of the year help restore my faith in human nature (not!)
Wee tip this works on Firefox or Google not Microsoft. Little online tool called invisiblehand one word load it up and it will recommend cheaper price of goods your look for.
