I would suggest York.................but perhaps not.
Warwick and Kenilworth castles?
Warwick Castle ?
If it's beauty you're after then York, yes. You might meet Craft, beauty combined with a lot of history!
Dunster Castle and surrounding area, Caerleon south wales, the Valleys and rhaydar Dams/Ellen Valleys, peak district, hadrians wall, the malverns, St Michaels Mount and Tintagel, Whitby, Pembrokeshire, can think of loads!
You could be right there Mike........I was a York Minster volunteer guide a few years ago.
So you were the history bit then were you craft?
ouch parkdale, I'm so hurt.................

I like Edinburgh too. mrs factor enjoyed somewhere historical- Holyrood I think it was.
You wouldn't like Dover Castle, so no point in you coming down this way!

Kindly do not advertise the north-east, Paddywak, we wish to keep it unspoilt. If you must mention it then please issue a warning against the marauding Scots who sneak over the border to carry off our sheep, calves and bairns.
I suppose that anyone from the USA must be enamoured of history, seeing that they have so little of their own.
