Similarly, senses of humour differ vastly, and some posters can trample all over the sensibilities of others in the belief that what they are saying is actually amusing - shall we call it The Boyle Effect?
However, these glitches aside, the majority of people get their point over perfectly well, and occasional misunderstandings are sorted out with a few more postings, and an apology if merited.

DT Crosswordfan - you won't have heard of The Boyle Effect - it's a concept I invented as I was writing my response.
The Boyle Effect - the belief that you can say anything at all, no matter how libelous, cruel, nasty, snide, or vile, if you disguise it with the fact that you regard yourself as a commedian. The essence of The Boyle Effect means that a certain selection of the population will laugh at what you say, because they see your act as cutting edge, and you as a daring individual who doesn't care what anyone thinks.
In fact you are a nasty vile poisonous man with a swinging brick where you heart should be. Your audience are nervous go-alongs who would love to be smart and clever, but can't quite manage that because they actually do not possess anything approaching a genuine sense of humour.
The end-fact of the Boyle Effect is that you and your audience richly deserve each other, and the fortunate by-product is that most national media realise how knee-jerk and shallow what you do really is. and steer clear.
