I need to unscrew like a kind of a screw on my steam generator - the indentation on the screw is about the size of a 10 pence. However it is coroded and I cannot get it open either with a 10 pence or a screwdriver. Any ideas what I could use with a bit of length. Hope you get the gist of this. Thanks

unfortunately don't have either. I am a mere female and puny into the bargain
especially the "bit on length" reference
give it a bit of a whack with a thin cold chisel placed in the slot first then try and tighten a little.

Try mould grips clamped to a screwdriver

Serious question, what sort of steam generator?
some of them have dirty minds on here Conne!!!

Have you got any WD40 or equivalent?
can you post a picture of the screw or give us the make and model number of the steamer.
Wrap the handle of the screwdriver with a thick elastic band - this gives you more grip. This may be enough on its own, or you might need some additional help too ...
give the screw head a good spray with wd40 and leave it to soak into the thread to easeit a bit
