Years ago, when we got a letter from someone looking for a job, I'd make sure they received a reply, although it was mostly 'no thank you' I also DID keep their details on file and passed a few onto other businesses who we dealt with.
Don't know if they ever got jobs after doing so but I felt it helped.

That was the right way to do it albs. Not just ignore people who are interested enough to apply for a job with your company. Very poor public relations and very bad manners.

When I went to sign on last week, the nice lady was chatting to me that she doesn't work on a Friday, I asked if I could work there on Friday then? She kinda laughed and said they are having job cut-backs too. (Flipping 'eck!!)
