I use blue reliever inhalers for asthma, but the instructions say 8 puffs per day, I asked my doctor if I could more when necessary and he shrugged his shoulders!

salamol
If you need to use it that often on a regular basis you need a review and probably the addition of a 'preventer' and maybe even a different delivery system in case you are not using it at fuull efficinecy . I was taught use it as often as needed I've used it 8 times in an hour before now
Sqad will know...you can get him early doors before he goes off to his club for swim etc....
The active ingredient in both the above is salbutamol. Very often a pharmacist is a better person to ask this type of question.
Your GP may have a practice nurse trained to carry out asthma reviews they are often very good

I was given a preventer several years with steroid, It danaged my larynx a!a consequene of which I have a dreadful huskyvoice, despite speech therapy and diffficulty using the phone,
Hi Am I right in thinking you asked him if u could increase? his shrugged shoulder were wrong granted, with the blue inhalers is it Bricanyl ur on u can increase the amount of use however I suggest u go to a diff doc in practice if theres more than one, if ur needing so many puffs a day thrn I agree with ther answer that u need a preventer whichd ud take at specified times and the blue one as prescribed and at times u need it. If ur already on a preventer then this prob need to be changed to a diff one. Do u give the puffs both quickly after the other cos if u do that, if u shake it then puff straight after the first all ur actually inhaling is the contents of the inhaler whichmixes the inside, u need to wait at least 30secs. Are u a longtime suffere only asking cos any inhaler etc wont work properly if u havent got the administering procedure correct,. hope this helps x

Never mind having your medication reviewed. I think your doctor's bedside manners could do with some polishing up.
Whether you can or not is really not the modst important issue... the relevant thing is you shouldn't need to if you do except in very rare circumstances you need a review

If what you have is a salamol Easibreathe type the limit is up to 8 puffs per day (Checked in BNF) the recommendation is the same for the standard ventolin but I haven't always seen that adhered to

I was told that in a severe asthma attack you can use up to 10 puffs one after the other. Ordinarily you should not exceed 8 puffs per day. I think you need to go back to using your preventer inhaler morning and night. Ask your GP for Seretide as this is a preventer and also contains a long acting reliever.
