I have a 14 yr old who has Asthma, which flares up from time to time, just uses his blue inhaler when needed, which isn't that very often.
The last couple of days has been bad and today I got him to the doc's who prescribed prednisone for him, he took this about 2.30 this afternoon, 6 tabs at 5mg, when would it start to kick in? Also he has had 6puffs thro his chamber every two hrs, but says its not making much difference? he seems cheerie enough tho.any other things i shld be doing.
Thankyou

its okay have now had him to our of hrs GP, and up his puffer, etc, put his and my mind at rest, so hopefully he will be better in the morn.
Hope all goes well for you. I have a friend who is an asthma sufferer, but he is now in a very top job for which you have to have a very stringent medical and no problems. Just thought I would mention it that it does not always stop people having the life they want.
I've had two moderately bad attacks about 20 years apart and nothing but the occasional mild wheezing in between; with luck your boy will find it fades away with time too.
I am very sorry to hear that your son has bad asthma. I had it from the age of 2 until 18. Then I grew out of it. It came back in later life and I now use The blue Ventolin inhaler. Perhaps it might help to use a Serentide inhaler (Take 2 puffs twice a day and rinse out the mouth afterwards) This is used as a preventative not a method of relief
