I'm about to get dentures and one thing that I would like to know is - when you have used a fixative such as Polygrip to hold the denture in, what happens when you want to take them out at bedtime? Is the denture easy to remove? Thanks very much .

I can't answer your question, but I don't use a fixative - my top plate just stays in on its own.
Just pull gently.
From the Poligrip website:
Swish mouth with water.
Slowly remove dentures by using a rocking motion.
Remove denture adhesive residue from denture and mouth with warm water and a soft brush.
Use a denture cleanser to thoroughly clean your denture

Chris
dont mistake the fixative for laxative
I never use water to get the fixative off. It just comes off dry, which you can then place in a dry tissue. Then brush the denture after that.

Thanks everyone - I've had a temporry plate in for the last fortnight and my gums must have shrunk a bit more as it's a bit loose now, but am getting new teeth tomorrow thanks Christ for the link - I went onto the Polygrip site earlier, and it didn't look anything like that!
Buenchico, you've been elevated. Good luck with them islasmum.

I'm sure that he is really - I presume he's a he?
A final suggestion re the fixative?
In the morning, rinse the denture under the tap, dry with a paper tissue and then apply a small drop of fixative about 3/8" either side of the centre line.
Insert denture into mouth.
I find that drying the denture ensures that the fixative will adhere to the denture more than to the inside of the mouth and should all come out cleanly with the denture when required.
