I have booked into a salon to have a fake tan done. However I forgot to ask whether I should shower and rub body lotion in, or just shower without body lotion, before going to the salon, and if so, how long before my appointment should i do this?

I realise I could ring and ask them but was just wondering if anyone on here would know?

Thanks!

Shower, exfoliate thoroughly  - cos the tan can get more intense in areas of dry skin and I'm guessing you don't want orange knees or elbows - and use a body lotion.

If you do this when you get up that morning it should be fine. Also don't forget to wear loose dark clothes. Loose so that it doesn't leave marks in the tan and dark so that any excess that rubs off doesn't show.

my appointments not til 7pm, should i still just shower in the morning?

Depends what you'll be doing that day! If you're going to the gym or anything then you might want to shower nearer the time.

The important things are 1, exfoliating and 2 letting the body lotion have enough time to soak in properly.

When I had mine done I was told not to shower before hand as this will open the pores and could make the tan go a bit patchy. It never did by the way, so may be just as well to contact the salon direct.

Loose clothing and also loose shoes... you don't want to end up with white feet!

It's always best to exfoliate a couple of times before you go during the week run up as im assuming it is soon it may  a bit too late for that though not to worry, use a really good exfo scrub and concentrate on heels, elbows, feet, hands and knees, also do a light exfo to yourface is always a good idea and neck. Take a booble to hold your hair back or pin it up before you go, wear jogging bottoms and a nice loose t-shirt, dont wear a bra after your tan as this may gather the tan a little, take loose fiited sandles too, take a loose pair of pants etc. Dont put socks back on. Sorry if im rabbiting but am experienced in these things lol! Make sure your well moisturised at least 2 hours before you go for your tan to give it time to soak in and massage it well into dry area (knees etc again). Wait till the next morning to wash all the excess tan off and hey presto you should have a nice tan assuming the therapist has done a good job, dont hesitate to tell them if it goes patchy the day after...
