Stand up straight, look in a mirror (looking yourself right in the eyes) and say
"I love and approve of myself".
It is called a 'self affirmation' and is supposed to help strengthen the spirit.

Yep, no problem.
I could do it, but I don't like to lie - especially to myself! :p
Good post, Answerprancer. Hard innit. I try. It's intriguing how hard it actually is even when you're a person who tries to do their best. How about you, can you?
There was a post on here ?yesterday about having confidence in yourself. If you don't like yourself, it's hard to relate postively to other people. I am glad to say that I'm not perfect, but I'm very happy in my own skin.

I can, but I find it slightly awkward to do it with any real conviction (which is the whole point).
Yes.... I wouldn't though as I'd feel like a right knob chatting to myself in the mirror...
this sounds very american
I could never do this, I hate the person who looks back at me in the mirror. (:o(

It probably is, but hey.
Yup...I can also say "you are one tough bitch, today you did good" which by me is more to the point.
I can't. I'd see my mother saying it back to me :o(
No.

I feel like DEN mostly.
Yep that's the point, Answerprancer. We'll have to keep trying - it's a good practice. Somebody said "you can't heal yourself without healing others" meaning you have to heal others to heal yourself AND meaning when you yourself are healed others benefit from it as well.

Woofy that one is easy for me as well:))
swedeheart :-)
i do believe AP with a little more patience you will be doing it with no problem :)
Woofy - you tough bitch you:)
"I pray thee then
Write me as one who loves his fellow men"

"Abou Ben Adhem" poem bv S.T.Coleridge

Seems more useful
the person in the mirror is always much older than me. I think the space-time continuum may have a flaw in it there.
you are right jno....here's what mirrors look like when no one is looking in them
