Hi, have been weaning baby of 5 and a half months for about 2 weeks now. At 1st she had 1 ice cube of puree once a day, then 1 twice a day now she has 2 cubes twice a day. She is struggling to do a poop, many times during the day she is pushing quite hard but when I check her nappy there is only a strawberry size poop kind of putty like in texture (sorry lol) there and she does this quite regularly throughout the day. For the effort she puts in, this seems quite a small amount? She is formula fed 4 times a day and I also give her about 180mls of cooled boiled water a day. Is this toilet habit normal?

if it is soft and is going regularly i wouldnt worry , however if you find signs of vomiting or blood in the stools this needs adressing any concerns at all contact your health visitor
Hi. My daughter was the same when we started weaning. (and also when I switched from breast to bottle) It righted itself as she got used to the solids but my health visitor recommended a small amount of fresh squeezed orange juice with her water if she is constipated.
