christina....a bit high, indicating kidney disease, diabetes or hypertension....ther are other causes, but I cannot bring them to mind.

Christine...you cannot force him and indeed at 86 he MIGHT have a point.

I am not a very diplomatic fellow so probably not the best person to ask for advice.

Keep me informed.

Thanks SQUAD XX
Mum was same.....had to wait for her to collapse before we could get her to hospital. Paramedics cannot force hospitalisation.
Chrissey xx If he dont want to go, i think tambourines right you cant force him!

My thoughts are with you! hope things turn out for the best!
i know the feeling christine. my grandmother is 86 and was told she had to go into hospital for a number of reasons but she refused point blank. We did eventually get her in and she was so ill at this point that she couldnt say or do anything she was so weak, but all she did when she got there was moan and bitch and hurl abuse at the doctors and nurses that to be honest they must of been glad to see the back of her.
your grandfather is probably scared, like many of older peoples attitudes are, when you go into hospital at that age, you dont come back home. Have you had a chat to the doctor, perhaps they can do treatment from home by having a nurse coming around? good luck xxx

gossipgirl......thanks for your reply...doc.says he needs tests and to be on a catheter all of which cannot be done at home xx
Perhaps a different approach, it would be a nice rest and he'll be looked after by pretty nurses. If you know of a friend he confides perhaps they can find out the real reason for him not wanting to go in. How long is the treatment?
