I have private medical insurance through my husbands work and am thinking of having a gastric band.

My local pct doesn't offer this except in very rare cases..

I was just wondering if they give a referal will the private insurance pay for it do you think?

i would say it's very unlikely. After all if private health insurance covered unecassary surgery, people would get it then have their facelifts, nosejobs etc
Cosmetic treatment, and I'd be surprised if a gastric band doesn't come under the banner of cosmetic treatment, is an exclusion.
No.
