my bf has had a bad back all week started in the midle at either side of spine and now moved down to bottom back....when he moves his left leg he feels pain in the right.......is this sciatica and how best is it treated?

paracetomols dont do much neither does deep heat rub....im thinking of getting one of those infra red heat/healing lamps.......is it heat or cold best

He needs anti inflammatories rather than just pain relief, so he should take ibuprofen. If it is a trapped or nipped nerve, the swelling will be making it keep catching, so getting the inflammation down is a priority.

Hot bath, maybe with a good muscle relaxing bathsoak (like radox muscle therapy) Then i find a heated bean cushion applied to the area helps.

He may well benefit from visiting a physio or chiropractor to give him some excersises to strengthen his muscles in order to keep everything in place. He must make sure he carries on moving around, as imobility will make it worse.

thanks for the advice.......only problem is ibuprofen makes him ill and dizzy as he has a very sensitive stomach.....been to the chemist today and bought some heat cream called fiery jack so will give that a try i also manged to get one of those heat lamps too so hopefully it will do the trick....many thanks

Honey, if he doesnt get on with ibuprofen, then you should try aspirin instead. It also has anti imflammatory qualities.
