What is your favourite Jam and why?
It can be brand or flavour - if you have got a favourite brand in particular I would be interested to know....

My reason for this is because my kids have taken a great fascination to having jam on toast and I am worried about the nutritional content and if there is too much sugar in Jam. Have any of you ever bought hartleys before? Is it any good? Look forward to hearing your responses.....

Hartleys is in my opinion the best mass produced jam that you can get based on fruit contetn and flavour however most jams do indeed have a high sugar content and this is no exception.

I recently made some blackcurrant jam for my diabetic father in law using a reduced sugar sweetener and it was extremely hard to tell the difference. Therefore if you want to keep an eye on sugar levels, maybe look for a diabetic alternative. It will probably be more expensive as these things tend to be but thats the trade off.

good luck

I don't buy jam, but make it myself, or eat the ones my mother made.
My favourite is raspberry and quince.
Did a passionfruit-gooseberry once, that wasn't bad either.
Hartley? Oh please. More like Hardly. Bonne Maman is the best. Try it.
never heard of that one. do you know where I can get it? is it mass produced?
Bonne Maman is French; try your local deli (they also make nice biscuits!)
Good old Aldi. Contessa. Raspberry, strawberry, apricot, all excellent flavour, more like a conserve and V. reasonably priced too
I usually make my own but have bought Bonne Maman in the past and they were good.
They sell Bonne Marman in Tesco.

Is hartleys no good then?
mixed reactions it would seem...
I don't llike Hartleys! Only because of the lack of fruit.

Bonne Maman is good, with it's chunks of strawberries!
I love St Dalfour. It's made in France. You'll find it in tall slim pots in most supermarkets. It's a no added sugar jam/fruit spread. It tastes as jammy but doesn't have the nasties. I think they sweeten it with grape juice. It comes in lots of different flavours too. I like the thick apricot, but all the others are nice as well. Happy spreading.
OMG I forgot about St. Dalfour. That one is really, really good. My home-made jam taste just like it. I would choose that over Bonne Marman any time.
Forgot to mention St. Dalfours' is loaded with fruits.

Tiptree's Morello Cherry jam is reeeeeeet good too...

...i use their morello cherry, and Little Scarlet, and St. Dalfour's raspberry, and Orange & Ginger marmalade. Mmmmm!
When the soft fruit season is here ..go
to a PYO ..and have a go at jam making ..
involve the jam eaters !! it's not rocket
science ..trial and error ..100% better
than the shop jam ...but Bonne Mamman
is good ....
Homemade Rhubarb and Ginger.
whatever you buy, steer well clear of 'diabetic' jams. they're full of artificial sweeteners and even diabetics are advised not to buy them. they should be banned, like all 'diabetic' foods.
asda's extra special range of jams and marmalade are very nice.
morrisons 'the best' strawberry jam - gave up making my own when i tasted this - full of whole strawberries and tastes really homemade.
The children like Robertson's seedless raspberry jam. I like St. Dalfour's Rhapsodie de Fruit which is a highly-fruited spread, but without added sugar. The sweetness comes from the natural fruit juices.
