But a weeny rant.
OH and I want to save money yet he is hell bent on saving nothing.
For example his phone contract is up for renewal and he is happy to pay £55 per month when he can get the same phone for £10 less on a different network. Or pay a huge upfront fee to get it about £47.
He also keeps going to the supermarket to buy sandwiches when I have a fridge and cupboards full of things for lunch and sarnies.
Just annoys me so much as I feel I'm doing all the saving for both of us.

Got to have a conversation with him! Try and set a target - make it achievable. If you remove all his guilty pleasures at once, he wont thank you for it because although you will have a pot of money, he'll be miserable.
Try making his lunch (do it the night before) for him for a month. Once he has decided he likes home made stuff, get him to do his own.
Little baby steps. Softly softly catchee monkey.

I agree with boaty on this one.....except.....well.....are you sure it isn’t just you who wants to save money? I am not saying that you are wrong to want to do so....but well.....he doesn’t sound very committed to saving does he?
have you talked to him about it? Ranting on here may make you feel better but it won’t change anything.

I know that Queenie. But reality has to come in. He can't save if he wants to buy the world for pennies, but will pay the world for it. My mobile phone is pay as you go. I put a tenner on it last January, I put another tenner on it this morning, and there was still three pounds on it. He has to wake up to the real world and support you.
Sorry queeny it is probably too late to change him. I blame his mother. My mom died when I was 11 & my dad married again when I was 13 so my wee brother & I had a stepmother who was very far from wicked. In fact she taught us many things including saving. We each had a Birmingham municipal bank account & we put part of our pocket money in every week & were taught what great fun it was to watch the account grow, so I grew up with the principle of saving ingrained. It is great to buy nice things but should always be done with saving also in mind. I really do wish you luck with your chap.
We don't live together. Yet.
I know ranting on here won't help but it gives me a bit of freedom to clear my mind so I can go back and approach it again better without leading to arguing.
We don't have a joint account ummm. I have brought it up and he seems ok with doing that.
Woofgang - he's just stubborn. But he does want to save he has said so himself. He can do it if he puts his mind to it.
I'll try that though Barmaid thank you :)
When it comes down the food side I just don't like wasteage.
