Evening all. I have a wee woman here who went through an operation on her foot yesterday to remove a bunion, straighten the toes and some other stuff while they were at it.
She was given paracetamol and Tramadol for pain relief and it was suggested she alternate them every two hours but could take them together if the pain was too much.
If she continues to take both together every four hours can she take ibuprofen two hours after each dose as a 'top up' for continued relief?
Thanks for your time.

Although I've asked for info on mesication, anyone with a medical background would possibly be able to help. :)
Slightly different, but my husband was given Tramadol for a bad pain in his back when he trapped a nerve - taken by themselves they did not seem to work, but as soon as he took them together with ibuprofen, the pain went and he was given much needed relief until the next medications were due.
Yes......pain relief is important, particularly after that operation which is especially painful. She can take Ibuprofen 400 mgms as a "top up" after her initial analgesics.

Help has arrived in the shape of dihydrocodeine and all is a lot better although still a bit nippy.
yes ibuprofen is safe. agree 400 sqad

BUT you say every two hours ... and this would mean 12 doses which is too much in anyones book. Your package insert if you are buying it says 1200 mg but the internet says people are commonly taking double that - which in your case is 400 every 6 hrs.

BUT (2) it sounds as tho the agreed medication paracetmaol and tramadol is not being taken regularly - try that first. It is well known that if you take medication regularly for pain then you end up using less than using it only when pain starts.
