It depends where you live - but many don't now get them until they're eligible for their State pension, on the sliding scale (upwards)
You're still eligible for free prescriptions, though.
In Scotland and got my bus pass at 60. Everyone gets free prescriptions here.
What is unfair is the state pension age being pushed up when there are plenty of unemployed younger folk who could use the jobs the older ones are forced to keep. But to keep 'freebies' for those who have done their bit and now considered of pensionable age is fair enough. Just unfortunate for those who thought they'd be eligible earlier.
I thought I would in Feb 2012 when I was 60 as hubby got his at 60 but I now have to wait until im 62 (unless it changes again !!)

perhaps it depends on where you are , i know many over 60 who do have one.
Male, 61, in Kent, had mine for 6 months now, OH suggested I applied for it in case they became part of the cuts being proposed at the time.
Never used it, just can't bring myself to get on a bus!
Mank - I get mine Nov 2013 - sudduv in between 60 and 65 -
oh and I am not a girl either
My OH got his when 60 in 2010, although he cant get his state pension until 65. So its not really fair that after 2010 we have to wait until we receive state pension. We hardly used buses anyway, but they would be handy when needed

UNITED KINGDOM ???

In Wales you get a free bus pass at 60. We all get free prescriptions, too, although I'm not so sure that's a good idea.
