I have been off work sick for a few weeks now and i went back see the doctor on friday of last week and they signed me off for another week to 2 weeks,as i said i was going to see my employer for a occ health meeting. So i had the meeting with occ health meeting yesterday and they said that i should be able to come back to work tomorrow with restricted duties. Do i need to be signed back to work by my own doctor as my note runs possibley for another one and a half weeks? Will i get into trouble if i dont return to work, as i dont feel i able to just yet due to still feeling ill?

I'm no expert but I got a sick note (sorry fit note ) for the first time i years not so long ago. I just returned a day early because I felt ok. If there are any consequences that I decided was my employer's look out.

As for getting into trouble with your employer, my guess would be that, that was an issue between you both and whatever contract you are in ? In any event it's more of a legal issue I'd say.
Ask your G.P if he thinks your up to the restricted duties offered to you. If you and your G.P think you are then you need a return to work note with the restrictions wrote on ie no lifting..
was your doctor involved in the planned return to work?
You have been off for sometime, so your doctor must have thought you were ill, so he should be able to advise you as to what you can and cannot do when you return to work.
Did the Occ health ask you to sign a form so that they may contact your GP?
