Good morning, problem I haven't experienced before, a bit embarassing..

I have had traouble with IBS for years, and went back and forth to the hospital last year for numerous tests all coming back inconclusive, they just told me I have an aggrivated gut basically.

Last night, however I had a real "windy bloated feeling" all of a sudden, and before I could rush to the loo, I felt like I had lost control, and on inspection a mottled browny discharge had appeared, without warning.

This obviously was highly worrying, and I don't know what has caused this, and why it has never happened before. It didn't actually smell at all, so it wasn't like I'd had an "accident" as such.

I hope you can shed some light, as I am extremely panicked over the whole thing.

Thanks

Good morning frilly, I have read your post and i am not sure that i am going to be the bearer of "good news and joy."

I will assume that you have already had a colonoscopy and other intestinal disorders have been ruled out leaving you with the diagnosis of IBS.

One associates, colicky, cramping abdominal pain with explosive diarrhea as the typical symptoms of IBS and indeed they are, but also distended, bloated stomach with episodes of non offensive uncontrollable rectal discharge as you have experienced are also characteristic of this large bowel disorder.

You may or may not experience this again........I don't know........but it is likely that you will. There is little that one can do to avoid these accidents and dashing for the loo is the only respite that one can hope for.

I am not going to go into the cause of IBS as it is not known, but in my opinion, anxiety and stress pays a significant part.

Try not to panic and it doesn't indicate a threatening change in the diagnosis.

Sorry I have not been of more help.

Thanks Sqad, I am actually not panicking panicking, but you can understand that I am more worried than normal.... This has never occurred before, I wouldn't have even considered it to be diarrhea, as it didn't smell. This is awful even having to describe, however, it didn't resemble that, it was more a dark brown black liquid with hardly any smell.
But it really took me by surprise, this was the main factor....Yes, have been for a colonoscopy etc etc, keyhols laparostomy etc etc and nothing found. All my life been told I have IBS. This seemed to be more serious than the "normal things" that I am used to with this coniditon....

Thanks again
Yes......I quite understand.
