He's in Papworth, the best cardiac hospital - do you think he gets his treatment on the NHS, or do the Royals pay to go privately? usually they go into the big private hospitals for planned interventions, but he was blue-lighted into Papworth.

I've no agenda on this one, just curious!

Has Papworth got facilities for private patients?

If I was the husband of the Queen,I would get PP treatment whatever
It is the best of the cardiac hospitals so I would hazard a guess that is where the best heart surgeon was at the time. No doubt there will be a suite for private paying patients. As the crow (or helicopter in this case) flies is it the nearest hospital to Sandringham where all the Royals had congregated for the annual Christmas fest.
Papworth does have a private wing and I'd be amazed if Prince Philip isn't in it! I think he and the Queen can probably stump up enough between them to pay privately...
i think those who can afford it and/or want privacy and security should pay for it!

and i bet they do!

I'd think so too, but I just wondered if he'd go into any old A&E (before being admitted) if the emergency warrranted it.
I had assumed Papworth, along with a couple of other local hospitals, would be on alert with over 30 royals and their staff spending Christmas at Sandringham. They probably had a private room empty for Christmas which could be made ready very quickly.
Lol, now I have a vision of him sitting on a trolley hand on heart with the Queen in Leeds Infirmary A&E unit with all the foul-mouthed drunks. Not that it would ever happen.

You're probably right, maidup - a team on stand-by, just in case.
we may not know that he was already under someone there? x

More likely, cath, that his private physician travels with him - they will have connections in high places.
I doubt very much that there would be a private physician with the Sandrinham Xmas Ensenble.

If in an emergency, what could he do?

There is always NHS direct or even AB.

Yeah right, sqad :-)

They'll take their own Ibuprofen :-)
boxy..........exactly..........;-)
they heard you were unavailable Sqad so Papworth was the next best option
rowan....yes, it seem that I missed a knighthood there.
Never mind Philip, forget about him, sqad is back, albeit not as bright and cheerful as he usually is, but still means for celebration. Hello sqad, welcome back.
