reading through the leaflet on some new medication it says the following

side effects
contact your doctor at once if you get

abdominal pain, disturbed vision, feeling sick, ringing in the ears,
total blindness, rashes, loss of consciousness, shock due to heart
problems, death

i wonder who writes these things, and hope you notice the last bit.

Well it it doesn't cure you.......
LOL - bit late if you get to the last one!

They draw up those lists from reported side-effects when doctors report them to the companies, so it might be only one or two people have had that reaction. Death sounds a bit serious, though.
Question Author
euphemia, was wondering how one is supposed to contact the doc, if one has shuffled of this mortal coil.
Through the medium of a Medium.

W Ron.
Question Author
seeing has how i already have tinnitus, ringing in the ears, should cross that off the list, and if one has gone blind, heaven forbid, then won't be able to find the damn phone, oh well back to the drawing board.
Water's poisonous Em .. if you drink enough of it : )
Well, I thought I saw a thread here today asking if there is life after death.......
Question Author
euphemia, well i don't think there is, perhaps if i take enough of this stuff, and the jury's out on that one, perhaps i can come back and tell you.
I would be a ghost writer, ah ha
I agree, Em!
Disclaimer. Drug companies warn of any possible side effects, no matter how remote, so you can't sue them.
The people who make viagra don't warn of priapism. Taking the soft option, there?
Question Author
i thought the death option a bit strong, worrying even, but in this day of elf and safty, then perhaps it's just as well they tell you everything, it's meant to be a light hearted poke at the drug companies, in case you were wondering.
Think they have to cover any eventuality in our litigious society.
It does focus the mind though! Do I really need these?
Question Author
i am thinking of not taking them, especially some of the awful side effects in other medication i have had in the past.
Might stop your survivors suing the drug company if you'd been warned the medication would kill you and yet went ahead and took it anyway.

Indeed, I might have a chat with a dcotor before taking anything that threatneing.
Question Author
i confess that i don't think i have ever seen that on any other medication leaflet, bit late if the stuff kills you.......
most aspirin packets will warn you that a possible side-effect is headaches.
Question Author
bit like packets of peanuts, with the label indicating might contain nuts........
I chuck out the instructions of any pills I'm on, which may not sound sensible, but otherwise I find myself imagining that I have all the side-effects. Fortunately my doctor knows what meds I'm on, and I trust him not to give me anything that would react badly to anything I'm taking already. If the worst came to the worst and I had to be carted off in an ambulance or anything I've a list of my meds in my diary, so anyone can see what I'm on.
em10 - can I ask what medication you have seen with "total blindness" on it?
