I am thinking of taking up swimming on a regular basis as i want to lose a little weight and tone up a bit more but would swimming tone my flabby stomach and chunky thighs or would i need to do something else to get them bits up to a satisfactory look?
Thanks

Yes it would - you stretch in the water and it stretches your tummy, good for the arm muscles too. Water exercise is very good for you!
Swimming is very good and virtually strain/stress free.
When I used to swim a lot the only parts of my body that became toned were my upper arms and outside thighs. My shoulders became a little bit broader as well. I never noticed any difference in my abdominal muscles. I never lost weight but if you swim a lot and combine that with a weight-loss diet you will.
It might depend on your body - my abdominal muscles certainly improved.
