Hi Sqad - I am being a scaredy cat but want to be on the safe side.

Many years ago (20-30 years) it was decided that I was sensitive to aspirin (I used to take Codis for headaches) and the aspirin sensitivity used to present with huge red bags under my eyes which lasted a few hours. Since then I have always taken paracetomol preparations for pain control.

The GP is still investigating my mysterious upper arm muscle aches (with may or may not be related to statins as you know). I'm no longer on the statin, the pain is much relieved but the flexibility in my upper arms is really poor - I can't do my bra up round the back, e.g. I was sent for x-ray and all they could see was possible slight deterioration in the rotary cuff on both sides. The doc has suggested 200mg ibuprofen t.d.s., to see if that resolves any inflammation.

The blurb in the pack still says not to take this if with an aspirin sensitivity, but could this have gone away after all this time? The doc and the pharmacist both say "give it a try and see what happens" but I don't want to end up with anaphylaxis.

As I said - scaredy cat - but should I try it and see? If so I will have to wait until later, OH is away so I don't want to take it on my own in case I have a reaction.

Boxy....first point is that Ibuprofen 200mgms is an extremely small dose....even three times a day.

I can see no reason why you should be hypersensitive to Ibuprofen because of your aspirin hypersensitivity.

I agree with your GP and pharmacist..............give it a go.
