I did all my Christmas grocery shopping online last Friday, £90 worth and it was supposed to be delivered tonight. they've just called and cancelled due to the weather. it is snowing quite heavily.

they offered (kindly) to let me pick it up (it's about 5 miles away, and I can't get there) or have a refund. I really don't see when I'll get time to get it done now. I'm working tomorrow and Weds and there may not be much left in the shops on Christmas Eve. I don't have turkey or anything!

I can't decide whether to stamp my feet a bit. what do you think?

Hi sara,
the road conditions must be really very bad & dangerous. I can understand your dissapointment, but if it's dangerous for the driver to deliver. x
Yes, I'd be angry.

Grrrrr !!
So they won't deliver but they think you will go and collect it?!!! That's ridiculous, I'd be stressing a bit and throwing a bit of a hissy fit too Sara
Don't all delivery people have 4x4's ?

In fact ... doesn't everyone?

Haaa Haaaaa ... crikey, I can be smug, sometimes.

=0)
Stamp your feet!

I've done delivery driving (not for a supermarket) and not going out due to weather wasn't an option, you had to try even if you got stuck.

(also unless it's snowing a hell of a lot more than here it's a poor excuse)

could you arrange for a taxi to pick it up and charge the supermarket ?
i would try and get to the 24 hour tesco or asda and get it done, then put your feet up, i would be going ballistic, but it wont make them change their minds about delivery if its too dangerous. good luck chuck, u still have time
Isn't it a *** when you get winter weather in winter!
I really don't see how they could have got everyones orders to them in the allotted slot when the roads are clogged up as they are, or is it just your delivery that they should have prioritised?
There aren't many people who haven't been inconvienced in some way by the weather this week.
Life's like that; no-one died, get over it!
(Mind you, that said, I would be gnashing my teeth a bit as well) lol.
I wouldn't be chuffed ,but i would rather not have my christmas dinner than know that because the delivery driver brought it for me regardless of conditions he had an accident ,the roads are very bad sara ,i am supposed to be going home for christmas (my kind bro in law is coming to get me)27 miles away but i hope if the roads are still bad he just stays at home .i have no christmas dinner in either

try going on christmas eve ,hope you get something sara and you have a nice christmas with your family

sorry, I posted and got distracted!

thanks for all your replies.. a mixed bag! in answer to some of the above;

yes, I'm special and I want my delivery. lol!

my work is 10 miles in one direction, the supermarket is about 5 miles the other way. I live a considerable distance from Somerset ;o)

Jayne, button it!

Chuck, that's what I thought but hey ho :o/

thanks all. I guess I'll go on Christmas eve and hope there is something left for my family.
Sorry to hear about your shopping woes, hun. I hope you get something sorted. x x

If not... you can come to me and we can get totally sloshed while His Maj cooks the dinner (hope you like beans on toast). :-)

NoMercy, thank you! can you please set 5 extra places at your table?

can't wait :o)
I'll have to bring the plastic table up from the garage, but no sweat ! Got plenty of booze in - that's the main thing...
Can I join you NoM?!!!
Course you can, Rinkins ! :-)))
Fabulosa!!! I'll bring more booze ;0)
mine is supposedly coming tomorrow night, however, seeing as it took me 3 hours to do a 10 mile journey home today (at 2pm!) and i saw 3 accidents on the way home, and had a little skid (in more ways than one!) myself, i guess i will understand if they cancel me!
you don't live in berkshire by any chance?
Question Author
bednobs, I'm in St Albans, Herts. the delivery was coming from Hatfield (or Shatfield, as we locals call it!). you'd best have a Plan B up your sleeve.

Plan B, let's all go to NoMercy's. I have booze, crisps, and chocolates :o)
