I'm looking for a new hair styler . My old Nicky Clarke has given up .
Well ,let's say it went ..bang ,and I jumped abut a lot :)
What I want is a hot brush type thing ..not a straightener ..just one of those ones that give your hair a bit of bounce . Like a blow dry brush but electric .
Any recommendations......thank you .

The recipes are hit and miss Neti .I'm not a measurer really .I'm a mothers old tablespoon cook .
The bread pudding is easy though .You need a large tablespoon and it goes like this .Hope you've got a big bowl similar to this .
http://www.realfoods....cash-mixing-bowls.jpg
Fill it nearly to the top with torn up bread .Bung half a pint of milk over .Let it soak for a while .Mush it all up ,add a beaten egg ,about 2oz of melted butter and a teaspoon of mixed spice .Mush again ,then add three heaped tablespoons of mixed fruit ,same again sugar ( any sort ) and mush again .
It should be soft but not too sloppy .Spread it into a shallow greased baking tray and cook at about 150C for about an hour .
The pasties are easy .I use strong white flour ,suet and butter for the pastry .
Half fat to flour ,but you have to knead it well and rest it .Then it's just onions ,beef ( skirt or whatever) swede and tatties cut up small ,salt and pepper.
Bung in the pastry ( make a circle etc ) knob of butter on top of the filling ,fold and crimp. Egg glaze and bake for 40 mins approx.
thanks shaney, just one thing, can't get suet here, so just marg will be ok? and the beef skirt which we can get, surely have to pre cook it?
Wasn't Downton lovely, a real feel-good feeling, and an Xmas special to boot, yay!
you can use any hard fat as a suet substitute, freeze it then grate it into a little flour and toss it using a fork so your hands don't melt it.. You might need to freeze it again after grating or you can grate it into a bowl over a bowl of ice to keep it firm.
In the US you can't get suet so i used to grate butter to make dumplings.

Oh it was lovely Neti ..I was pleased really that Thomas didn't get the push and that O'Briens secret came back to haunt her .It was so good at the end on the cricket pitch.
You can use any shortening Neti .Can you get Trex or something similar ? If not just use block marg .Or lard and marg ...or even all butter !
You have to cut the meat up very ,very small .Tiny cubes . It'll cook ...don't worry .
I have saved Downton and the Strictly results for tomorrow when i can enjoy them in peace. Its all gone quiet here so i am enjoying a drink then beddy byes.
Question Author
I hope I haven't spoilt it for you Woofy :(

I'm enjoying a drinkie too and tussling with a crossie on and off but may give up and go to bed .It's been very quiet here as to fireworks actually .Mind you it has rained non stop stop all day and is still piddling down .
Urology for us in the morning for Mr S .It'll be the same old I expect .
Hope you get a good sleep ..Oight Oight
Downton was just so lovely, with a real good feel good factor. I wish cricket matches like that still existed - they were a real part of my childhood.

Good luck today Shaney.

The good news is that I might now be a millionnaire!! A second cousin of mine (who I haven't actually seen in about 40 years) phoned last night to say that she has been approached by an heir hunter for details of all the cousins linked to my great grandfather as their are two unclaimed estates. Ha ha!! As far as I know that side of the family were all just hard working tradesmen, but apparently the money involved comes from outside the family.

Very intriguing!!

Mr LL has disappeared for the day to Yorkshire to collect a car.
woo Lottie, how exciting. My garage rubbish might go today or more likely tomorrow and I am waiting for my Amazon gift cards to be delivered. We are all still a bit spaced from yesterday but quite happy.
I find it more interesting than anything else Woofie. I love family history and we had such a nice long chat on the phone last night. I discovered all sorts I didn't know from her, and she from me. It seems so odd that we share a great grandparents yet had forgotton about each other.
A'noon each...lovely sunny day but very cold. Wore my new padded coat to go shopping, it's just the job, light and warm, so I'm pleased. Mind you, now the public have seen me in it I might have to buy another one...my face might be turning invisible but I don't want to start being recognised by my coats.

Well good luck Lottie. I've got so many cousins it would probably only be marginally better than a poke in the eye if I had to share an inheritance.

Speaking of poke in the eye I was a bit freaked out when I discovered one of my eyes is very bloodshot under the top lid. I didnt see it until I tipped my head back when I was rearranging my face to go out. Maybe I've rubbed it or sneezed too hard...I'm monitoring the situation.

I enjoyed Downton too... there's something I want to know but I'll wait 'til woofy's watched it.
its okay Robi, I am one of those people who skip to the end of the novel as well!
oki doki folks, you'll have email shortly

I knew it was a mistake asking jno to sweep up....

Robi, there are so many first, second cousins, aunts uncles, etc. etc. involved I don't expect anythings at all. But as long as it doesn't cost me anything up front then I think it's worth finding out who is involved, especially as the estate was not initially from a family member. The heir hunter involved says it's extremely complicated. Will wait and see.

I have moved in to our new home, but it's a bit stuffy!!
I'm there too, thanks shaney xx
Thanks for the hopsitality Shaney....
