It's worth a try as the book was so funny. I read it about 45 years ago.
Starts with a couple in bed. He is going to jail the following day. She is asleep. He tries to get her into a position to make love when she awakes and tells him not to be so stupid.
Helpful replies last time I asked but I have yet to identify the book.
