There are so many good crime writers out there it's hard to nominate a favourite .
James Lee Burke , Henning Mankel and Peter Robinson are just a few of mine .
anything by Ann Rule, she is a real crime writer, American, once you start her books you cant put them down....
My absolute favourite is the Ian Rankin Rebus series. But you should really read them in order. The first one is Knots and Crosses
Mark Billingham and P.J. Tracy have both produced a really good crime series.
Any Michael Connolly book featuring Harry Bosch, LA detective.
The Spenser seriesby Robert B Parker.
