Now that JK Rowling has officially named her next book who do you think is the half-blood prince?? I initally thought it could possibly be something to do with Neville Longbottom, but have since remembered that both his parents were wizards therefore he is full blood. Anyone any suggestions as to who it could possibly be??

could it possible that the half blood prince is half giant or half other creatures if so Hagrid is a possible canidate
I think we're all sure that Neville is going to play a larger part in the books, since he gets stronger and more confident as the series goes on. I don't know if JKR is going to be so obvious about him being the half blood prince. I think she is more apt to take a lesser undeveloped character and make him the prince and continue Neville's support role. I think that possibly the half blood prince was to take the role Ginny Weasley ended up with in the 2nd book. Remember on her site she states that CoS only holds clues to the end of the series, not that the character is introduced.
I've went on the JK Rowling website and found sme secret stuff. The clues lead up to it being Dean Thomas as he was adopted but his Dad was a wizard.
Also on her site, under FAQ Books, there is a question about if Ginny died and Voldemort came back, what would happen. JKR states she can't answer that until books end so there is a clue there too...
could voldy be the half blood king, and some one is his hier to the throne?
evildevilwom- possible since he is the last descendent of slytherin, but we already know he has no heirs and JKR says it's neither harry nor voldemort. I think this message board has pretty much exhausted Tom Riddle since we heard about his death in book 4 and one "come back to life" case is enough for any series.
My guess is Godric Gryffindor. Monacrchy was the ruling government during the making of Hogwarts. It makes since that he would be called this as he was the one who defended Half Bloods place amongst the wizarding world. Also, one of the main themes in CoS was the Gryffindor/Slytherin rivalry. I believe we will see more of the Sorting Hat and the HBP sword as Harry finds out his relationship to Gryffindor.
Phoenixashes-maybe a descendent of Godric?
Possibly, but I consider the "Half Blood" to be representing who the Prince protects and fights for, not an actual half blooded character. Still anythings possible with JKRowling
Remus isn't a half breed, being a werewolf doesnt make you a half breed. You can rule out Hagrid cause he is half breed, not half blood. Also someone pointed out earlier, Colin Creevy was attacked so he is muggle born. We can probably rule out Justin Flinch-Fletchly cause he said he was down for eton, but he made his mom read Lockharts books. She decided hogwarts cause it would be nice to have a fully trained wizard in the family. Well wouldn't they already have one if Justin was half blood? I'm sticking to Tom Riddle but if i find anything on JK's site i'll post it
does anyone know how long the do not disturb sign was on before it opened? I'm not a very patient person...
I have no clue. And where did someone find out Dean Thomas was adopted. I must have missed that one somewhere.
well it may seem really far fetched but how about justin finch-fletchly. i mean he did say he has a choice between eton and hogwarts so he is not pure blood. of course no one can really tell till the book is out. hope it is out quickly though...getting impatient
Justin Flinch-Fletchley Had to be muggle born. Read COS and you will see it. His mother said that it would be nice to have a full fledged wizard in the family. Well wouldn't she know already if she was married to one?
soldierboy- I don't think Dean was adopted, but JKR says that his dad was wizard and never told his mom before he skipped out when Dean was little. Dean was raised as muggle born, but he's really half, along w/half-sibs. It's on her website, but not at all in the books.
Thanks Kamaro1977
JK said its neither Harry or Voldemort. She also said that Mark Evans is not an important character in the book. My guess is Godric Gryffindor.. Hes been influential in the books but we dont know much about him yet...
Well How would JK ressurect someone that has been dead for 2000 years. All throughout the book she keeps saying there is no spell to ressurect the dead.
Soldierboy, the HBP doesn't have to be alive to play a big role in the plot. Its Harry's relationship to the HBP that is important. There's more than two sides to a coin!
Tou`che You are completly right
