Thank you so much for your very speedy answers. Can I be incredibly cheeky and push my luck to ask you which is the Odd One Out and Why from the following. Robert Southey. William Wordsworth. Alfred Lord Tennyson . Alfred Austin. I know they're all Poet Laureates, but surely the answer can't be so simple that Tennyson is the only 'Lord'? Thank you
I have had a look on google and can't come up with anything yet, will keep looking, I'm intrigued myself, will let you know.
Wordsworth the only one pof the four not to accept it on a refusal.
Check for yourself list of the Laureates in succession as listed in Wikipedia.
1813: Robert Southey, on the refusal of Sir Walter Scott;

1843: William Wordsworth;

1850: Alfred, Lord Tennyson, on the refusal of Samuel Russell;

1896: Alfred Austin, on the refusal of William Morris.
