Could anyone please tell me who the first orchestra was in London to be conducted by a woman. Many thanks.

London Philharmonic ..Marin Alsop.. Not 100% certain though ..perhaps someone will confirm.

Seems we are both well off track IAP
Nadia Boulanger (1887-1979) became the first woman to conduct the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 1936.

Thank you very much for your answers, I am glad you enjoyed researching it IAP, but it was truly driving me mad, however I am not really sure whether the question relates to full time conductors as I have written it exactly as it is asked in the quiz.
