I've just received Rory's book of memoirs from our local library. 95 pages in and it's fascinating. Have any of you read it?

Rory Stewart? Ex-army, ex-MP?

Question Author

Yes, Dr, that's the one.

Question Author

Sorry about the spelling!

Isn't it about the current state of politics and his disillusion with it?

Which one - Mr T has read three of his memoirs and rates them all highly

Question Author

Yes, that's a large part of it. But it's interesting to hear his experiences and learning what being an MP involves.

He should have been The PM ....Brilliant man.

Question Author

Toorak; it's his latest (I think)  - the edge of Politics-  or something like that.

He got that for christmas but hasn't read it yet 🙂

Politics on the Edge

his books about his time in Iraq and Afghanistan are said to be fascinating

Question Author

Toorak; what a swine! (Or was it not you who gave him that present?)

I haven't but he's always sounded interesting - a man with a life before and after politics, which you can't say about many MPs.

It was me 😢

but he will read it - he regularly listens to his podcasts and likes his written work

Question Author

But he's been accused here of being a wimp. He's certainly far too intelligent, open-minded and rational to be a favourite of a certain wing of AB.

Question Author

I mean; he hasn't even got a beer belly, a gammon-coloured face or a smirk!

No, I've not read it - and I have a long list of reading to catch up on - but given what I've read here I think I'll request it from the Mobile Library.

I've just booked on an Adult Ed. course on writing an historical novel - because t.b.h. I'm drowning in the research and could do  with any help on getting organised!  Thoroughly enjoying the research, mind you - just ask me about the historical development of horseshoes!!  (NO, don't ask, I haven't time to explain.)  Just going to sort out stories to read at a grown-ups 'Jackanory' session on Feb. 10th.

Seriously - I'm encouraged to read Rory's memoirs, thanks Atheist.

No, not read it. Have no interest in doing so. He showed such an appalling image for himself when on the news and other media. I have no interest in him. Hopefully he'll go retire from politics and make way for someone more suited to the job.

Not read it - must try the library.

You big him up if you like atheist but in my opinion he's poisonous little twerp, full of bluster and big ideas that he was not capable of carrying out, just check out his big ideas as prison minister.

Rory Stuart has done so much good in his life, travelled across the world to help people.  Pity there aren't more like him.
