I found it in the express this morning and thought it very appropriate for what is going on with the extremely vocal minorities today. “The reasonable man adapts himself to the world around him; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”

i'm not sure exactly what that aphorism is saying; on the face of it it seems to be saying "more power to the unreasonable man" which seems to be the opposite of what you want to apply?
Depends on what you class as reasonable.
I am sure what dave classes as reasonable is entirely different as to what I class as reasonable
The answer, as in most things, lies in the 'middle way'.

Aristotle taught of taking the opinions of 'reputable people' as a starting point in any enquiry.

What is wrong with G.B.S's assertion is its implication that there are only 2 types of people; the reasonable & the unreasonable.
It's similar to a NUS debating society whereby an unreasonable leader will 'cancel' a speaker because that speaker's views do not chime with NUS leaders view (JK Rowling ?) Those in the debating society who are reasonable lose out to the unreasonable and the unreasonable wins. No debate. Yes dave50 very true and a bit like AB.
