Treat people the way you want to be treated

Talk to people the way you want to be talked to

Respect is earned, not given

Wise words. Wish this were true about AB but.............. dominated by a very small number who have no idea what the above means. I too have been guilty of letting my feelings get the better of me but realise this is just a waste of time. This is an English Tory site so I'll limit my input in future.

It’s not just the ones who are passionate about politics that need to heed the above Maggie
Well I don't think it's an English Tory site. In fact quite the opposite in the news section. Regardless of your political or religious views we should all be respectful. I don't care what views others have as long as they respect that I may have different views.
I agree that they are wise words, but constant provocation and taunting can have a bad effect on others. Rotten apples and all that.
It reminds me of the tale about being able to push a button that would kill a person on the other side of the world without anyone knowing; some people would be tempted by that because it wouldn't really seem real and anyway nobody would know. Worrying aspect of anonymous chattering with a huge audience of unknowns. You wouldn't behave like that in your own village where everyone knew what you got up to, but online.....
//Talk to people the way you want to be talked to//

Unfortunately this does not happen on here in a few cases .

Whenever I see a certain poster put up a post , I look at the responses and you can guarantee that there will be one from a certain poster , in a derogatory manner .

Just one example

We all seem to view posters from our own perspective. It staggers me how many are described as lovely or fun ( or nasty for that matter) that I just don't see at all . I don't answer you much on here, to me you are always one of those most likely to snap at heels or say something sour so I find it a bit surprising that you would post this. Others will have an opposite view. This site has always been like that.
I actually feel the same as Prudie. Your not always respectful yourself. And what's wrong with being an English Tory?

With a post like this, you will encourage the opposite to what you may be looking for. Limit your input by all means if you want to, but no one really needs to know.
English Tory site? More like an offshoot of the Socialist Worker or the Grauniad
I ignore the posts I'm not interested in, mostly the politics, religion and some about dramas on tv that I don't watch. I have nothing to get upset about except people being nasty, we all like different things and people - there's no right or wrong. We just need a bit of holding back by a handful of people. I usually have nothing to say as I don't have experience of what the poster is posting about and it doesn't help if I put in an ignorant twopen'th.
I was with you til the last sentence. But, you’ve demonstrated what you’re having a moan about.

It's called the Golden Rule. I wish it applied to our government's attitude to immigrants and asylum seekers
depends what you are here for doesnt it if you want to argue politics then youll find a lot of right wing people if you come here to ask how to change a bed sheet then right wing wouldnt come into it you pick your battles and dont take it personally good luck to you i leave it to those who can be bothered the political arguments that is
Why should you have to earn respect?if i meet someone for the first time i will show them respect ,they do not have to earn it.
English tory site? I don't think so, respectfully disagreeing with you, of course.

I take the view that it is disrespect, not respect, that is earned.
