morning all, its a somewhat early start, i can't get back to sleep so thought here we go.
i hope everyone is well and in good spirits, and that you have a good day. I will be having lunch out this afternoon with my friend at the local Inn. I had hoped the weather would be nice, so we could sit outside, but it seems not as it's turned quite cold. Anyone have plans for the day?
i met up with an old friend yesterday and we had a natter about old times, but the cost of drinks is prohibitive - average price for a pint is now 6 quid for a lager 5 quid or so for an ale. How do people who drink a lot and i have known a few, afford it. We didn't drink much to be fair but its just so costly, no wonder half the pubs are going to the wall.
One message for Naomi - learned yesterday afternoon that Covid has closed the café at the Devon Guild of Crafts in Bovey Tracey - such a shame but my guess is that they'll reopen under someone else's guidance. We had a crew in from Totnes yesterday picking up their fairy exhibits which have been on show around the gardens here - very successful it has been and classic 'McDonalds' marketing in targeting the kids and one gets the parents too....it was this group who told me about the Guild(which is still open, by the way).
Morning Boaty, it's mixed down here and due to break up and let the yellow stuff in - at least for the morning.
Fine, emmie - all shorn as to the wool on top - and I think my brains went out with it as I managed to forget to go to Waitrose for three things - will have to wait until the w/end now.
not too bad, the pain in my right hip is still bothersome but that will go i am sure. Looking forward to lunch out at the Queens Larder, i have got to know some of the locals and the staff who are all chatty and nice with it.
Can't believe your beer prices, emmie - ours are about half of that - well £3.50-3.75 and that's bad enough. My first pints were circa 10-12p and I can remember paying 7p at the RAF club at Edinburgh Uni....
There is a beer called Leffe, and that's 7 quid a pint, it's quite strong apparently, though i wouldn't pay that as its daylight robbery.
mind you the pub prices are going up apparently so my beer Timothy Taylors may have gone up by now.
