Thing is - it's not special effects.

It was done for real.

I am more than a little impressed.
Me too.
I might have to buy a Volvo.
Apparently, and I don't know what difference it makes, it was shot in reverse. It was said to be safer that way.

Love it though... and isn't he ageing well ;0)

I've seen the 'making of' video and there genuinely wasn't any trickery. Both trucks are driving backward, but only one moves to the side.
BLIMEY !!!
Sp, to copy and paste a Youtube link from the iPad, make sure the Youtube website is in desktop mode. You'll find it in the panel on the LHS.
Oh I know there was no trickery just that he had started off doing the splits and then stood up, apparently that was the only real safety measure.

I too think it's amazing.

As to the video, I'd have to see the making of it to believe it.
i love his ads for coors
and when you think the trucks were driven by hamsters

I would think the fim is actually running in reverse. The splits were done with another smaller truck beneath him and moved out. Then the trucks were guided closer together. Nice Enya tune as well.

Tip sp. in Youtube on the iPad, tap as though you are emailing the link and a url will automatically be generated. Copy and paste that link into the AB url window.

can't beat it!

I would have liked to have seen more prominent Branding; maybe a discreet Volvo logo on his shirt so it was subliminally visible throughout the close up of Van Damme - but still a classic

Reminds me of the Solvite blokies glued to the boards dangling from helicopters

Tell you what I find quite interesting - everyone at work, and a lot of mates outside work have seen it, but all through emails, Twitter feeds, Facebook etc. no-one has actuall seen it on telly.
