Ooh, fab, I haven't seen Jeremy Kyle for ages.

Do I put it on in the office, and keep working?

Or just sod it, and sit in the kitchen with coffee, biscuits, and JK?

Record it, do your work and then watch it with coffee and biscuits. I have never seen JK - but I hear that it is hilarious and annoying.
Stay in the office. Watching it in comfort would be too sybaritic.
Frightful man and an awful program ! Turn the TV off and do something interesting !
Sandy - did you swallow a dictionary when you were a little boy?
Wolf63, I like words but now I hardly ever get a chance to use them. So I like to come here to AB and dust down and use one or two that I've dug out of the recesses of memory. :-)

Sybaritic ... sybaritic ... ah yes, here we are ...

"fond of sensuous luxury or pleasure; self-indulgent"

Ooh, I like the sound of that.

:0)
I have coffee with Jeremy Kyle every morning . He can come and have lunch with me anytime.
Question Author
I think he'd be fun company, Wendi.
switch it off making millions from the troubles of pond life.
My daughter and a few of her friends went to Manchester a few weeks ago as part of JK's studio audience, she says that off camera he is very funny.
no one forces people to go his show .
I meant to go on his show. He has done a lot of good work especially for children .
Question Author
Yes, he does a lot of good work.
But I must admit I do like to watch the slanging matches.
You are quite right wendilla...nobody is forced to go on the program, but they are paid to do so.

The other reason that these people go on the show is that they are generally so stupid and uneducated that they are unable to see that by appearing and making complete fools of themselves isn't a very good idea. If I was having sex with my wife and her mother at the same time, which is very unlikely, I'm not sure I would even dream of going on a national TV show and tell everybody about it.

Kyle is cynically exploiting the weak and vulnerable, for money. This isn't a documentary about the underclass in Britain...it is nothing better than bear baiting.
Mikey yes but I did read that quite a lot of those that are on benefits don't get paid they just get the hotel paid for .
Question Author
Me too.

It makes you feel good about yourself, I think.

However bad your day is, you can watch JK and tell yourself ...

At least I don't have greasy hair, three teeth, a foul temper, five kids by uncertain fathers, a boyfriend who is sleeping with my best friend, and a wardrobe full of jogging bottoms.

Okay, I do have a lot of jogging bottoms.
Yes,there's always someone worse off than you are. There must be someone who is worse off than anyone ("And it like to meet them" as Spike Milligan observed).

But I don't find it very cheering to know that there are such people; how bad does your life have to be, that you are cheered by seeing the people on Kyle's show? The show is akin to bear-baiting, taking some human animal and annoying it for the amusement of the public.
Fred I disagree if people are stupid enough to go on there they deserve all they get if they are trying to make out they are in the right when they are wrong..

//There must be someone who is worse off than anyone//

That is true in all cases but one, obviously.
