if the handle goe's up and and the esbag lock go's up and down, then the sash has proberly just droped, you could deglaze the sash and reheel and toe it [easy if you know how]if not open the sash get a hammer put the handle under the sash and force the sash up. if the handle moves but the esbag don't it's more than likely the handle spindle. you could also try wd40 on the esbag...

hi worfman, thanks for that, but the handle wont even move! i havent locked it inadvertantly, cos the key is not with the window. i cant check if the esbag is moving cos i cant get the window to open. dont suppose you have any other ideas?
some handle's automaticly lock there self when you push the button to open it...if not i would force the handle and break it and then get a new one for less than a tenner.
best try the key any way.us the key try the handle without pressing the button.you are pressing the button?
