Much has been said and white nations constantly accused for their past slavery involvement, so why are the African nations not now condemning their own for such evil deeds taking place in this the 21st century?

And since this crime has taken place all in the name of Islam, why are our Islamic leaders so quiet over this?

one rule for one and another rule for another.

some people have built-in guilt feelings I suppose.
Sorry AOG I thought you might be wondering if they took credit cards.....

Right excellent question again
why are they silent when they should be shouting - convert to Christianity, it is a much better life, again ?

The answer may indeed lie in the position of the Mosque in Islamic society and that the standard christian hierarchy isnt really mirrored in Islam.

Winnie ( not a muslim, and I am not sure if she is Christian )
has though and I am sure you will be thankful over that one.

Many Muslims condemn Boko Haram as a group of nutters. Northern Nigeria is a no-go area. Other people condemning them isn't, IMO, going to make any ifference to them.
.

Blimey an unexpected entry in all this ( besides Winnie M ) was Andrew Mitchell - he of plebgate fame - talking as an ex-International Development Secty - making I think, his very first political appearance since erm his last one

Rehabilitation at last

I don't think it's as simple as that.

From The Guardian:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nigeria's armed forces face an uphill battle against the insurgents, who operate in small, mobile units and are drawn from communities that spill across the country's porous desert borders.

Near daily aerial bombardments have been halted as ground troops have poured into the forest in search of the girls.

We are trying, but our efforts are being countered in a way that it is very clear they are being tipped off about our movements. Any time we make a plan to rescue [the girls] we have been ambushed, said an artillery soldier among a rescue team announced by presidential decree over the weekend.

In one clash, he said, 15 soldiers were killed by the insurgents.

"We know where these girls are being held in the forest, but every day we go in and come out disappointed. Definitely somebody high up in the chain of command is leaking up information to these people," said the soldier, whom the Guardian was able to reach three times during shift breaks. Nigeria's president, Goodluck Jonathan, said in 2012 that Boko Haram had secret backers among government and security officials.

Another soldier deployed to Borno state said: "In my 13 years of service, I have never been in terrain this big and tough. There is desert and there is forest – you cannot imagine how difficult both of them are."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My thoughts are with the families of these girls in what must be a waking nightmare.

Also, you asked whhy the African nations are not 'condemning their own for such evil deeds taking place in the 21st century'.

I assume you must've missed this statement from the Afrian Union:

The Chairperson of the Commission of the African Union #AU , Dr Dlamini Zuma, in a statement released in Addis Ababa on Monday has expressed support for President Goodluck Jonathan’s effort to rescue the over 200 Secondary School girls kidnapped by yet to be identified persons.

"The Chairperson of the Commission reiterates AU's full support to the efforts being deployed by the Government of Nigeria to prevent and combat terrorism.’’

She calls for enhanced inter-African cooperation, within the framework of the relevant AU and international instruments, in order to more effectively address this scourge.

Furthermore, the Chairperson of the Commission expresses distress at the fact that over 200 school girls, abducted on April 14, 2014 in the northern Nigerian state of #Borno, have not yet been released.’

She reiterated AU’s solidarity with the anguished families and expressed support to the efforts being made to rescue the abducted girls and bring to justice the perpetrators of this abhorrent act.

Many Muslims ??? I've seen NO demonstrations or condemnations !!
Every Muslim I've spoken to about it is utterly horrified, along with people of most other religions. You can't judge a religion by analysing its fringe nutters, otherwise Judaism, Christianity and even Buddhism fares very badly too.
Here is one call denouncing the girl's treatment and Boku Haram. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=60606

Surely what you do is put in a bid for a job lot of 270 slaves, and free them all in one fell swoop ?

It looked to me as if the Daily Mail had photos of protests. Not that I've time to read it just now, but are all the women there with their banners, non-Mulims ?
aog is confusing what Boko Haram are threatening to do, and the Slave Trade.

The Slave Trade does and has existed for a long time and historically Britain played a major role in its spread, and then in its reduction.

Boko Haram are not slave traders, they are terrorists.

Whether they really intend to 'sell' these girls is doubtful, but announcing they will has certainly succeeded in gaining them the world's attention.
I saw a photo of a woman in Burkha with a banner against Boko Haram.

I'm guessing its pretty much the same polarity between the CofE and Westboro Baptist Church.

The frightening thing here is the fact that we have recently seen a huge influx of Nigerians to this country, should we be concerned that this type of thing is not imported into the UK?

As it has been mentioned many times on here, that it is not a matter of race, but that of culture.
What?
Kidnapping schoolgirls and selling them into slavery?

thanks to others in my absence for demonstrating that Muslims ARE anti-BK - demonstrating in the street in the UK isn't the only way of objecting, Muslim people of my acquaintance are appalled.

/// Recently? I have friends who are 3rd and 4th generation nigerians and they have never mentioned enslaving anyone. ///

Why would they?

Are you in the uk or some far off land?

I am in the UK but there are times when I think I am in a far off land.
